Design Crush: Meredith Heron

Hello, everyone! We here at RAD have had an amazing week so far!

Today we want to share with you guys the work of a Canadian designer we absolutely love: Meredith Heron.

e2a32b2ab421d24dffc3d668d0c6f9c3We adore Meredith’s work, most particularly the way she creates really classic rooms, but manages to incorporate a lot of color into her designs. We love her smart use of patterns and the fact that she is able to mix different styles so effortlessly.  Her work has been featured on both print media and on HGTV, as well as other TV channels. Also, you can check out her amazing fabrics collection here 🙂

Here are some pictures of her work; we hope you like them 🙂

Scarsdale Before & After

©Jane Beiles-9984retouchedHi Everyone!

We’re sorry for our absence, but Summer has been unbelievably busy here at RAD! We are glad to get back to the blog, and we do have a lot to share with you guys in the coming weeks 🙂

We decided to start back with a before and after of a (somewhat) recent project that we finished just before Summer. We’re covering the living room, master bedroom, and nursery of some great clients. Hope you guys like it!

Living Room – Before

Living Room – After

While the layout of the living room worked, it looked a bit dated, and so we refinished the fireplace with Calacatta mini bricks to give it a more modern look. We also chose to go with a light palette to make the space more inviting.

Here are a few detail shots:

Master Bedroom – Before

Master Bedroom – After

The master bedroom is perhaps the space that went through the greatest transformation in this whole project. The room, while big, is divided in different sections, and the way the furniture was arranged, as well as the dark paint colors and furniture, made it look smaller. We changed the layout of the furniture and chose to go with light furniture and colors to make it look larger and more relaxing.

Isn’t that bust gorgeous?! We love it!

The other room we worked on is the nursery, and we love it. It was so much fun working on this animal themed room! This room was not originally a part of the project, but our clients found out they were expecting and we did this room as well. We don’t have any before pictures, but we still wanted to share the after pictures with you guys 🙂

One of the greatest things about this photo shoot was working with a very willing model: our clients’ dog. After we had him pose in the nursery, he followed us from room to room finding himself a place in the shot 🙂

retouched collage He’s so cute! We loved having him help us with the photo shoot!

Out of respect for our clients we won’t share our sources, but contact us if you have any inquiries. And feel free to let us know what you guys think in the comments section 🙂

They look stunning, and at the same time can personalize a room because they showcase your interests. So here is a roundup of several coffee table books that we love! 4th of July Ideas for Entertaining!

Hello, everyone!

Hope you’re all enjoying the wonderful weather, and the fact that summer is right around the corner! Though work is busy as always, and we’re thankful for it, we do love when we have a reason to gather our families and friends, and just have a wonderful time. And July 4th is definitely one of those occasions! We’ve been looking around for good entertaining tips for it, and we are super excited!

So here are a few ideas we came across that we just love:

Champagne Popsicles

This is the perfect summer drink! It is absolutely amazing with strawberry popsicles, but we think orange popsicles would definitely work as well! Though at first you taste more of the champagne, this drink gets sweeter as the popsicle melts. Delicious!

S’mores Bar

Such a wonderful idea if you have a fire pit, specially for the kids (with some supervision, naturally)! This is a great dessert idea if you’re swamped and don’t have much time, since all you have to do is buy the ingredients and put them in bowls. And it’s fun for your guests!

Berry Ice Cubes

There are many ways to incorporate blueberries and strawberries into a 4th of July party, but this one is both simple and brilliant at the same time 🙂

Just make sure to have regular ice in case any guests are allergic.

There are few occasions in the year where you can go crazy with decorations for a party, and 4th of July is one of those occasions. Whether you choose to go with flowers, sparkler-themed decorations, stars, or flags (or a combination of these), if you’re hosting a 4th of July party, have fun with it!

Most kids think this is the best part of 4th of July, and we don’t blame them. But if you want the adults to have fun without having to supervise the kids at all times, opt for confetti poppers and bang snaps. Sparklers look great and are super fun, but remember they should be handled under adult supervision.

We here at RAD are very excited for Independence Day, and we hope you are too! And hopefully these tips can help you and your guests have a wonderful party 🙂

Father’s Day Gift Ideas!

Hey, everyone! We here at RAD hope you’re having a fantastic week!

Father’s Day is a few weeks away, and we were hit with a realization: Shopping for men is so difficult! Seriously, women are much easier to shop for. As long as it’s something pretty, we’re happy… But when shopping for men, you need to find something that is useful, and yet nice enough to be a good gift. It’s complicated. But we found some stuff we love, and more importantly, some stuff that we think they would love! We decided to share a few of our favorites with you guys!

We were happy to find such amazing options out there. Not all fathers have the same tastes, but whether they like grilling or exercising or they travel a lot, there is something great out there for the fathers in your life! Hope this helps you all as you shop for Father’s Day gifts 🙂

There were two more rooms in our favorites list, but due to some technical glitch we’re not able to add them, but we want to at least mention them: Mimosa Lane‘s beautiful mudroom, and Pink Little Notebook‘s wonderful living/dining room. They are absolutely stunning, and we wish we could share the pictures for them!

Seriously, all these rooms are amazing!! And there were many other wonderful rooms to choose from, but we had to stop at some point. There is so much talent out there! Again, we loved being a part of this!

Get your fireplace ready for summer!

Hey, everyone!

We here at RAD hope you’re all having an amazing week! With summer around the corner and the wonderful weather we’re having, we turned our thoughts to something in our houses that is often neglected during half of the year: fireplaces. Fireplaces are great for cold winter nights, but they can also be a great design focus in a room all year! So here are a few ideas for what to do with your fireplace during the next few months!

Perfect for a beach cottage.

Love the bust mixed with the more coastal feel of the coral!

Art doesn’t always belong above the mantel 🙂

Arranging firewood in a different way can make all the difference!

The fireplace can be a great place to display some vintage pieces, like the suitcases and frames.

For a sophisticated beach house.

The fireplace can be a wonderful spot for plants!

The fireplace can be a perfect place for a bigger design piece like the statue above!

And for candles! (Also a safe place for candles)

Simple and easy way to decorate a fireplace: large shell.

Or a nice crystal.

Different place for a mirror 🙂

Large shell with corals; very beachy vibe.

These are a few of the many great ways of transforming your fireplace into a beautiful design feature! Oh, and make sure to thoroughly clean your fireplace before adding any decor pieces to it 🙂

If you guys have any other ideas for fireplaces, let us know in the comments section. We’d love to hear from you!!
