Happy Thursday, everyone!
We hope you’re all having an amazing week! This past week we were crazy busy getting our booth ready for the Taste of Project Design Gala 2015, hosted by the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island, which was absolutely amazing!
Still, it didn’t leave us as much time for One Room Challenge stuff as we hoped, but we were able to get our proposed floor plan together, and we are so excited about it!
We decided to go with a round table because we think it will contrast nicely with the paneled walls and will make the room feel more modern, like in the inspiration image below.
We’re hoping we can find the right balance between traditional and modern to make this room work. We are now shopping for furniture that matches our plans. We have decided to go with this beautiful dining table from Mitchell Gold; it is stunning and will work amazingly well with our vision for the room!
We absolutely love it! Also, our clients already have some wonderful chairs that we are getting reupholstered; we think they will be ready in time for next week’s post 🙂
We hope to have a light fixture picked by next week as well, so hopefully we can share that with you guys then. Another thing we need to pick over the next couple of weeks is a rug, but that is turning out to be a bit more complicated than expected. Our clients have a dog and a cat, and so we need something that looks amazing while being pretty resistant. We are thinking an indoor/outdoor rug is probably a good idea, but we haven’t found one that we like yet.
It is a joy to be participating in the ORC again! It adds some pressure to a project, but it gives us so much motivation! Thank you to everyone who took the time to comment last week. Your enthusiasm is contagious 🙂 Also, both the invited participants as well as guest participants have great projects going on, and we can’t wait to see how they are doing! Make sure to check out their work as well!
I am loving the modern kitchen feel – especially that light fixture! So dreamy.

Rugs are super tricky I find- so many factors have to go into finding just the right one. LOVE the round table!

I am finding it quite challenging, as we don’t want it to look too synthetic, yet be able to hose it down if the pets had an accident. Thank you for following us along, love your feedbacks!!

Ooohhh, this is looking good. How about a hide rug? I looked forever for one for my dining room (so tricky!) and finally settled on one I love. They are super durable and you can find some great designs now. Good luck! Can’t wait to see where you net out. McKenna

Thanks! We really love hide rugs, but there are so many attention drawing pieces going into this room that we feel we need a more neutral rug. Still haven’t picked one though… Hopefully we’ll find one soon!

Love the dining table. It’s sort of modern yet timeless. I’d also incline to indoor/outdoor rug. The only problem is that, here in the UK, the options are pretty limited. Can’t wait to see what you find in the end. Karolina

LOVE LOVE LOVE the wood paneled walls and your plans to bring life back to them! I’ve always wanted a room in my home with wood paneled walls and can’t wait to see what you do! I love your inspiration from Week 1 and your plan in Week 2 with a round dinning room table! I’ve always wanted a round dinning room table, but in our current home it just doesn’t fit. With you talent and eye for design I know this will be a beautiful transformed dinning room! Let’s do this! Sarah
